Cowdenbeath 1 Stenhousemuir 1
This game took a while to come to life, and it wasn't until the 30th minute that either goalkeeper was called into action. The reason was a long-range free-kick from John Paul McBride which was well dealt with by Cowdenbeath's David Hay.
Stenhousemuir then took the lead in the 34th minute from the penalty spot. After Andy Gibson was bundled over by Darren McGregor in the box, a penalty was inevitable. Man- of-the-match McBride sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot to put the league leaders ahead.
Unfortunately for the visitors the lead was to be short lived as Cowden got back into the match in the 42nd minute. Liam Buchanan forced home the rebound from close range after Stenhousemuir keeper William McCulloch had saved John Ward's header.
The match improved in the second half and both sides had chances to win it. The home side's best opportunity came in the 76th minute through midfielder Markus Paatelainen. His powerful run was matched with a finish that had the opposing goalkeeper beaten, but unfortunately for the Finn the ball rebounded back off the post to safety.
Stenhousemuir's best chance of the second half again came from a McBride free-kick. This time Hay had to be at his very best to palm the drive round the post.
In the end a share of the spoils was a fair result and neither manager was too disappointed with the result.
