Two goals in three first-half minutes helped Alloa to a 3-2 win over Stenhousemuir.
Stuart Noble cracked a post after just six minutes but he did not have to wait long for the opener as he latched onto Michael McGowan's pass to power home with 12 minutes gone.
And three minutes later McGowan doubled the advantage, placing a shot past Alistair Brown from 20 yards.
Substitute David Gormley pounced for number three after 72 minutes before Stenhousemuir threatened a late comeback.
Grant Anderson netted from Stephen Murray's cross and Gary Thom headed home in stoppage time, but Athletic held on for victory.
